Everything we have is a gift from God!

This is why giving isn't about donating a certain percentage – It's about our hearts. We want to be a people who practice both simplicity and generosity.

• Simplicity teaches us that not everything we want is good for us.

• Generosity teaches us that what we have isn't only for us. 

Together, they help make us more free to love our neighbors, serve and care for others, and be a part of what God is doing in the world. ❤️

What about the tithe?

Tithing gives us a great starting point for thinking about generosity, but 10% was never meant to define the limits of a generous life.

In the Old Testament, Israel actually gave more than a single 10% tithe. They also gave for worship and ministry, celebration, care for the poor and vulnerable, gleaning, and more. Generosity helped keep God's people from holding too tightly to what they possessed.

So rather than asking, “Have I given enough?”, we invite you to ask:

• Am I becoming generous?

• Am I learning to live simply?

• Am I holding what God has given me with open hands?

• Is the way I use everything entrusted to me helping me become more available to God and my neighbor?

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. -2 Corinthians 9:7
