GIVING

If you're new to tithing, start with consistency. Rather than giving only when you feel prompted, commit to giving a specific amount each month as a way of demonstrating to both God and yourself that generosity is a priority. From there, consider increasing your giving by one percent of your income each year.

While the Old Testament speaks of a ten-percent tithe, the New Testament presents a model of sacrificial generosity (Acts 2:44–45). Tithing is also the one area where God invites His people to test His faithfulness in providing for their needs (Malachi 3:10).
