The Resurrection & The Life

I Am • Week 5

In the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the tomb, we are introduced to the doctrine of Resurrection when Jesus says, "I Am the Resurrection and the Life." At His own tomb, Jesus embodied that doctrine, defeating death itself in order to raise us to life in Him. Adam Barnett concludes our "I Am" series on Easter Sunday by sharing the joyful news that Jesus is our King.

John 11:3 NIV

Lord, the one you love is sick.

John 11:21-26 NIV

“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

John 11:25 NIV

“I am the resurrection and the life.”

Bob Goff –

“Darkness fell, His friends scattered, hope seemed lost, but heaven just started counting to three.”

Mark 16:1-6 NIV

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here.

Philippians 2:9 NIV

God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name.

Your past can be forgiven, your present struggle can be endured, and your future can be secured.

“My King” (S.M. Lockridge, 1976)

Do you believe this?

Jesus, I believe you are who you say you are. You are the resurrection and the life. I believe you died on the cross for me and that you rose from the dead. With that same power, make me a new creation. I am sorry for my sins. Please forgive me. I ask you to live in my heart and to fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you for being with me here now, and for all of eternity. Through the name of Jesus, my Lord, I pray. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer for the first time today, please let us know so we can celebrate with you. Text the name JESUS to (918) 376-3438.
