BIBLICAL INTERMISSION #1:
Israel Between Egypt and the Promised Land
Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep His commands.
(Deuteronomy 8:2)
He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna…to teach you that man does not live on bread along but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

The wilderness was not punishment.
It was preparation!
BIBLICAL INTERMISSION #2:
Elijah After the Mountaintop
The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

Jesus Between Birth and Ministry
