Senior Adult Bible Study (weekly) April 18 - May 23

  • Redeemer Church 5415 East 101st Street Tulsa, OK, 74137 United States (map)

This six-week study, developed in part by Richard Foster, author of Celebration of Disciplines, presents big questions to help us in the process of growing in freedom and wholeness and becoming more like Jesus from the inside out. Garland Tackett, our Spiritual Formation Pastor, will be facilitating this study from 1-2:30pm. The study guides are provided.

Our own Tami Roach took this course herself and this is what she has to say about it:

From the Inside Out is a study that explores your spiritual formation. This class looks at your spiritual roots - how your faith journey began, developed, and grew. Each session offers opportunities to reflect on different aspects of your spiritual journey by focusing on how you picture God, how you picture yourself, how you picture the Gospel, and how to make changes to follow Jesus more closely. The questions and discussions are reflective as well as thought provoking, revealing, and maybe even healing for some that have been carrying some unnecessary baggage.

C.S. Lewis writes of Aslan, the Lion, “He isn’t safe but he’s good.” Dare I say this could describe the questions in this curriculum? They’re probing questions that aren’t easy and safe as they take you out of your comfort zone, your safety net, and make you think.  But the questions are good! The questions challenge and stretch you, they prompt you to think about and evaluate things from a “further down the road” perspective, to step back and really assess and review where you are in your spiritual journey and if any adjustments need to be made. No matter your age,  followers of Jesus strive to grow closer and closer to Him. This curriculum helps you to examine your spiritual journey and determine if you’re on a healthy and balanced path or maybe have detoured a bit and need to change course a little . . . or a lot. Our spiritual journeys should never become stagnant as we age but should always be ones of growing, learning, and deepening our faith in Jesus.
